In the APA survey, nearly a quarter of U.S. adults reported that they or a member of their household were laid off from a job during the pandemic, which can worsen an already stressful situation. Those startling statistics are why the Cox Employee Relief Fund (CERF) expanded its aid criteria to include COVID impacts.
Since March 2020, CERF has provided more than $790,000 to more than 600 employees for COVID support, including Joan Stevens, a Cox Communications solutions specialist in Louisiana. She was juggling her four children, ages 13, 6, 4 and 2, at home full time. The added costs of the feeding her entire family while quarantining at home were adding up. Joan received assistance with food expenses for her family of five.

CERF Supports Families When They Need it the Most
CERF can help families cover expenses associated with accommodating immediate family members with special needs. Jose Nieto, an automotive technician with Cox Automotive, applied for CERF assistance to help with modifying his vehicle to make it wheelchair accessible for his daughter.
